## Description

Associação Florestal do Lima (AFL) is a Portuguese association representing forest owners and producers. Founded in 1994, it works to provide technical support and promote the sustainable management and value of forest resources. Its area of intervention covers the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo, in the Minho region. AFL is affiliated with FORESTIS, the Portuguese Forest Association.

The association supports the organisation and management of forest areas, including Zona de Intervenção Florestal (ZIF) initiatives and related forest management and intervention plans. Its services include technical advice, forest grouping and support for communal lands, as well as preventive silviculture and controlled-fire planning. AFL also operates six forest firefighter teams in partnership with municipal councils, helping address forest management and fire prevention. Other activities and resources include forest certification, digital mapping, training, and information on walking routes and forest-related topics. Through its projects and services, AFL works with landowners, public authorities and local communities to support better forest planning and care for the environment.
