## Description

The Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association (AFPA) is Ireland’s longest-established independent professional association and register for acupuncturists and practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Established in 1987, AFPA represents practitioners and is responsible for maintaining a register of acupuncturists working within guidelines set out by the Department of Health and Children in 2006. Its website helps the public find a registered practitioner and access information about the association’s standards and professional codes. It also provides resources on professional development, guides, core curriculum, training standards, research, events and frequently asked questions. Visitors can explore information about AFPA’s history, consult useful links and learn about health insurance. The association’s services are focused on practitioner registration, professional standards and information for both members and the public, rather than direct healthcare treatment. AFPA is based in Naas, County Kildare, and offers contact by phone and email. Through its register and educational resources, the organisation supports visibility and professional practice in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in Ireland.
