ABEC takes place annually in an African country and gathers global and regional experts, civil society, the media, policy makers, and the organized private sector to engage in meaningful discussions and collaboration. This year, ABEC is proud to announce that the conference will be held in Botswana for the first time, from December 6-7, at the Travelodge Conference Centre in Gaborone. This momentous event serves as a commemoration of the UN International Anti-Corruption Day and the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, of which Botswana is a participating member state. The theme of this year's conference is Combating Corruption: Celebrating the Gains and Strengthening Public and Private Sector Collective Action, reflecting the conference's commitment to addressing corruption and promoting ethical business practices. ABEC also launched a strategic task force during the previous conference, comprised of anti-corruption experts and stakeholders, with the aim of guiding the implementation of conference recommendations and promoting business ethics beyond the event. This task force aims to create an attitude and behavior change towards ethical practices and a corruption-free society. Additionally, ABEC is associated with other initiatives focused on promoting business integrity in Africa, such as the Africa Business Integrity Network (ABIN) and the Integrity Champions Network (ICN).
