AfricaRice is a pan-African Center of Excellence for rice research, development, and capacity building, dedicated to reducing poverty, achieving food and nutrition security, and improving the livelihoods of farmers and other rice value-chain actors in Africa. The center's main focus is to increase the productivity and profitability of rice-based agri-food systems, while ensuring the sustainability of natural resources. As one of 15 international agricultural research centers of CGIAR, AfricaRice collaborates with various stakeholders, national agricultural research systems, academic institutions, farmers' organizations, NGOs, and donors to benefit millions of African farmers and the rice value chain.
Offering a wealth of resources and programs, AfricaRice conducts groundbreaking work in rice research and development, leading to significant contributions to Africa's rice sector through improved seeds, cropping practices, processing technologies, policy advice, and capacity development. With a strong presence in 28 African countries, AfricaRice is committed to transforming the lives of millions of rural households in Africa. With a passionate and dedicated staff, the center is headquartered in Abidjan, CΓ΄te d'Ivoire, and receives funding from various sources to continue its essential work.
