The Africa Alliance of YMCAs (AAYMCAs) is the leading Pan-African youth membership movement on the continent. Serving as the umbrella organization for 17 YMCA National Movements in Africa and several Movements in formation, we are committed to empowering young people for the African Renaissance. Grounded in Christian values, our mission is to facilitate the holistic transformation of communities, nations, and the continent by nurturing the development of young individuals. At AAYMCAs, we provide comprehensive institutional and technical support to National Movements in areas such as program innovation and capacity development for good governance. Our guiding philosophy, Subject to Citizen (S2C), is a transformative youth model that empowers individuals to become active participants in positive societal transformation. Through our Power Space methodology, we offer programs that promote self-discovery, unlock potential, and connect young people to various opportunities. Our focus areas include livelihood-building, civic engagement, health and wellbeing, youth justice, environmental conservation, peacebuilding, and countering extremism. To ensure effective implementation, we employ the Inspiration, Ideation, and Implementation (3Is) Workshop Model, which incorporates a participatory approach involving stakeholders, duty bearers, youth, YMCA staff, and partner organizations. As the YMCA, we believe in putting young people in the driving seat of the African Renaissance and equipping them with the skills and opportunities needed for success.
