## Description

The Lagos State Ministry of Health oversees public health services and facilities across Lagos State, Nigeria. Its work includes managing the state’s secondary health facilities, which bridge primary care and more specialized services. The state has 30 government-owned facilities in this category: General Hospitals, two standalone Maternal and Child Care Centres, the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre, and comprehensive health centres.

These facilities are located across the state, serving communities in areas such as Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Ikeja and Yaba. The network includes specialist institutions such as Lagos Island Maternity Hospital and Massey Street Children’s Hospital, alongside general hospitals and community-based centres. Together, they provide residents with access to hospital and maternal and child health services, as well as emergency care through the Accident and Emergency Centre.

The Ministry oversees the general running of the secondary hospitals, while the Health Service Commission manages their human-resource-for-health component. The ministry is based at the Lagos State Government Secretariat Complex in Alausa, Ikeja.
