## Description

AGCS Gas Clearing and Settlement AG is an Austrian energy-market service provider established in 2001 to serve as a central clearing and settlement body for the liberalised natural gas market. It began operating in October 2002, supporting reliable, transparent and efficient market processes. The company calculates and settles balancing energy, coordinates the procurement of physical balancing energy, and operates the balancing group system for the eastern market area. Its services support suppliers, network operators and other market participants through technical and financial clearing, settlement, risk management, market data and standardised processes.

AGCS also supports supplier changes through a digital platform operated with APCS and A&B, and provides the free Self Storage service for supplier switching and related registration processes. Its Biomethan Register Austria documents biomethane injected into the Austrian gas network and associated quality criteria. EnergyMonitor.at offers market data and interactive visualisations covering areas such as consumption, generation, prices and balancing energy, with selected datasets available as open data.
