## Description

AirFlare is an outdoor safety brand that turns a mobile phone into an emergency locator, helping adventurers be found by friends, family, ski patrol, and search and rescue teams. Its subscription-based app is designed for a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts, from casual hikers to experienced wilderness travelers, and is available for about $4.99 per year, with other options offered. In an emergency, AirFlare can help searchers locate a user through on-grid tools such as location caching and coordinate returns, as well as off-grid detection and location capture where local search teams use AirFlare Search Technology. The app also offers self-help and peer-to-peer features, including sharing a location and navigating to another person. AirFlare is designed to work with limited or no cellular service, require no action to be discoverable during a search, and help users configure phones for extended battery life. The company says it does not track users or sell or store their personal location data; location becomes discoverable when someone is the subject of a search.
