## Description

AIRPLINHO, the Association of Retired and Pensioners of Linhó, is a social solidarity organisation serving older people in Linhó, Sintra, Portugal. Founded through the initiative of Odete Ricardo Francisco and four other local women, the association was formally established on 2 April 1992. It received recognition as a Private Institution of Social Solidarity in 1994 and entered into a cooperation agreement.

AIRPLINHO provides community support and social opportunities for older adults through its social centre and day-centre services. Since December 2012, its social centre has operated in the former Linhó primary school. The association also offers activities designed to encourage participation and connection, including a choir, gymnastics and arts and crafts. Its programme includes events, outings and community celebrations, such as an annual party and seasonal gatherings.

The association raises funds through donations and Portugal’s 0.5% income tax allocation option. It is also working on a new day centre in Linhó, whose construction began in 2012. Through its services and activities, AIRPLINHO supports fellowship and community life for older residents.
