## Description

AISTMAR ONLUS is an Italian nonprofit association dedicated to the care and protection of mothers and babies facing high-risk pregnancies, premature birth, or neonatal health problems. Founded in 1983 by Professors G.B. Candiani and A. Marini, the association is based at the Mangiagalli Clinic in Milan, where it supports the clinic’s specialist follow-up service for newborns after hospital discharge. Its work focuses on early identification of developmental concerns, care for infants and their families, and monitoring the neurological and functional development of babies at risk. AISTMAR helps provide a multidisciplinary team that may include pediatricians, physiatrists, neuropsychiatrists, physiotherapists, psychologists, psychomotor therapists, and speech therapists. It also funds equipment to support newborn care and quality of life, and conducts research into patient outcomes and interventions. Through follow-up services and family support, the association aims to help children develop and strengthen parents’ confidence. Donations and fundraising support care for high-risk pregnancies, premature or ill newborns, and their families; the organization is run entirely by volunteers.
