## Description

The American Journal of Archaeology (AJA), published by the Archaeological Institute of America, is a leading and widely distributed scholarly journal devoted to archaeology. Established in 1885, it publishes original research on the diverse peoples and material cultures of the Mediterranean and related regions. Its articles address a broad range of subjects, from ancient architecture, trade, portraiture, and settlements to archaeological excavation, interpretation, and museum exhibitions. Current issues bring together studies by researchers on archaeological discoveries, methods, and historical questions. Selected articles and online-only book reviews are available open access. Readers can explore current and past issues, browse book reviews and books available for review, and find information about museum exhibitions related to the journal’s scope. Individual subscriptions are available through AIA membership, with additional access options provided through the journal’s website and archive. AJA also supports the research community with author guidance, submission requirements, editorial policies, manuscript-preparation resources, and forms and checklists.
