The primary goal of the AKA is to advance the enjoyment, propagation, study, and conservation of killifish, a type of oviparous Cyprinodontiform fish, while promoting fellowship among its members. To achieve these objectives, the AKA provides various programs and resources. Members benefit from the bimonthly publication of the Journal of the American Killifish Association and a monthly Business Newsletter, including a Fish and Egg Listing for buying and selling. Additionally, the AKA hosts an annual convention and killifish show. The association also collaborates with regional clubs throughout North America, offering valuable opportunities to acquire killifish and seek advice on their care.
