## Description

The Left Movement of Working Architects (AKEA) was established in 2011 in response to the urgent need for organized resistance against unprecedented attacks on labor and social rights, especially during Greece's entry into the memorandums era. AKEA is a collective of architects committed to advocating for the rights of unemployed, salaried, and self-employed professionals within the architectural community. Their work extends beyond the Association of Architects (SADAS-PEA) to cover various labor environments, urban movements, and areas where architecture intersects with social needs.

The movement fosters direct democracy and strives to unite diverse perspectives within the radical left and broader social movements. Key concerns addressed include rising housing costs, environmental degradation, and challenges posed by the privatization of public services. AKEA aims to reclaim the architectural profession’s social character, transforming it into a tool for community resistance rather than mere compliance with bureaucratic standards. They actively participate in initiatives aimed at safeguarding labor rights, promoting solidarity, and challenging the prevailing neoliberal policies that threaten social justice.
