Description
Akhf is the Alaska Humanities Forum, a non-profit and non-partisan organization dedicated to fostering connection, promoting understanding, and building capacity among Alaskans. With a focus on bridging distance and difference, Akhf offers a range of programs, resources, and workshops that encourage conversations, strengthen community, and celebrate the diverse stories of people and places across Alaska. One of their flagship programs, Leadership Anchorage, is designed to develop the skills, knowledge, and networks necessary to be an effective and compassionate community member.
Another program, C3: Creating Cultural Competence, provides Alaska teachers with the opportunity to participate in cultural immersion experiences and gatherings, enhancing their understanding and teaching practices. Akhf also maintains an Organizational Directory, which serves as a comprehensive guide to Alaska's cultural, social, and civic organizations. Additionally, they publish the Forum Magazine, a platform showcasing Alaskan stories through captivating articles, interviews, and powerful imagery.
Since 1972, the Alaska Humanities Forum has been the official state humanities council and is supported by the NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities). Join Akhf in their mission to connect, inspire, and celebrate the rich heritage and diverse community of Alaska
