## Description

Alameda Backyard Growers (ABG) is a volunteer-run nonprofit network serving gardeners in Alameda, California, and the surrounding area. Its mission is to encourage urban food growing, connect neighbors, and share practical gardening knowledge and resources. A central part of its work is Project Pick, which coordinates the donation of surplus fruit and vegetables to the Alameda Food Bank.

ABG welcomes gardeners of all experience levels, and participation in its activities is free. The organization offers monthly educational meetings, special events, gardening resources, and video content covering topics such as seasonal growing, composting, and gardening with children. It also provides volunteer opportunities and information about the Jean Sweeney Open Space Park community garden. Free seed libraries and resources including a gleaning guide, recipes, book reviews, and local gardening links support residents as they grow food at home.

Through education, volunteering, food donations, and shared community projects, ABG helps make edible gardening more accessible while fostering local connections. It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by donations and in-kind contributions.
