Its groups bring together people who share their experiences, strength, and hope while addressing the effects of alcoholism on family life. The organization explains that alcoholism affects the whole family and that changing attitudes can support recovery. Al-Anon is independent of religious, political, and other institutions, does not take positions in outside disputes, and has no mandatory fees; its activities are supported by voluntary contributions from members.
