## Description

The Albany International Folk ’n’ Shanty Festival is an annual music and community event held in Albany/Kinjarling, Western Australia. The 2026 festival runs from 10 to 12 July and features an Irish theme, with a program described as its biggest yet. Most activities are free and unticketed, alongside four ticketed events. The festival brings together almost 200 performers across more than 50 acts at ten venues in Albany’s central business district.

Visitors can enjoy sea shanties, folk music, Irish dance, group singing, and music sessions, as well as the popular Shipload of Shanty singalong. The wider program includes the Poets’ Breakfast, a Poets at Sea event, a children’s program at the library, markets, and a Tug O’ War. The festival also provides practical information for attendees through its website, including schedules, artist and venue details, accommodation guidance, and frequently asked questions. People can support the event through donations, volunteering, sponsorship, and merchandise, and are invited to share feedback through a festival survey.
