## Description

The Volunteer is a quarterly journal published by the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA), an educational non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of American volunteers who fought against fascism during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). Founded by veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, ALBA aims to inspire social activism and human rights advocacy through comprehensive educational initiatives.

In addition to its journal, The Volunteer, ALBA offers various resources, including articles, archival materials, and translations of personal accounts from the war. The organization engages with students, scholars, and the broader public, aiming to foster a nuanced understanding of America's progressive traditions. ALBA publishes notable contributions from leading authors and educators, reinforcing its commitment to teaching history while inspiring activism.

Through its efforts, ALBA encourages the development of effective strategies for tackling contemporary social challenges, thereby steering communities towards a more just and equitable society. For those interested in supporting its mission, contributions to ALBA are tax-deductible.
