Alberta Fire Safety Association (AFSA) has been a key player in shaping the codes that impact fire safety in Alberta since 1978. Committed to improving fire safety for all Albertans, the AFSA actively participates in the Fire Sub Council, a group that influences the direction of the Alberta Fire Code. By having a representative with direct input in important meetings, the AFSA ensures that industry concerns are always heard at the highest level in the province.

In addition to their involvement in the Fire Sub Council, the AFSA has four other committees dedicated to enhancing fire safety in Alberta. The Portable Fire Extinguisher Committee focuses on keeping Albertans safe by providing advice on issues and recalls related to portable fire extinguishers.

The Kitchen Suppression & Special Hazards Committee works on complex systems aimed at suppressing aggressive fires in buildings. Lastly, the Kitchen Exhaust Cleaners Committee educates building owners and fire authorities on the unique hazards of kitchen exhaust systems.
