## Description

Gruppo ALe883 – Ferrovie: Modellismo & Realtà is a dedicated association established in 1994 by railway enthusiasts aiming to promote railway culture. Named after a series of electric multiple units that once traversed the Valtellina region, the group focuses on the restoration and preservation of historical railway assets, organizing exhibitions and heritage train excursions. The association operates out of the Storica Rimessa di Tirano, a historical locomotive depot dating back to 1902, which is not just a workshop but also a cultural hub for the community. ALe883 works closely with the Fondazione FS Italiane to care for steam locomotives and historical railway vehicles, and actively collaborates with other associations across Lombardy. Members engage in diverse activities, including the maintenance of railway stocks and hosting 'open door' events to welcome the public into the railway's rich history. This passionate team of around fifty members ensures that rail heritage remains alive through education, restoration, and dynamic experiences for all railway enthusiasts.
