## Description

ALERTCalifornia is a public safety program based at the University of California San Diego. Their mission is to understand natural disasters, particularly wildfires, and assess their short and long-term impacts on people and the environment. By utilizing an extensive network of over 1,000 high-definition cameras and sensors deployed throughout California, ALERTCalifornia provides real-time monitoring of wildfires and other disasters. These cameras can perform 360-degree sweeps approximately every two minutes and have a remarkable range of up to 60 miles on a clear day and 120 miles on a clear night. The program is focused on developing cutting-edge technology and cyberinfrastructure to process and visualize vast amounts of data for comprehensive management decisions. ALERTCalifornia's findings aid in mitigating the impact of wildfires, informing preparation and response strategies, and making more informed decisions for the safety of people and property. By staying ahead of natural disasters, ALERTCalifornia aims to ensure the well-being of communities and the environment.
