# Algarve Great Derby - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `algarvegreatderby.com` ## Description Algarve Great Derby (AGD) is a one-loft pigeon racing organization based in Moncarapacho, Portugal. It welcomes fanciers who enter young pigeons, which are housed, raised and trained together at the organization’s central loft before competing in scheduled races. AGD runs both Summer and Winter race editions, as well as challenge competitions, with programmes that include training sessions, races over varying distances, team rankings and ace-pigeon awards. Its focus is on providing careful housing and training as the foundation for competitive performance. During races, pigeons are released from designated locations and return to their home loft. Chip rings and the Benzing timing system record arrivals, with results published live online.
