APT represents telephone, cable television, and data companies, as well as service providers in the telecom industry. APT members offer a range of services including wireless and wired telecommunications, broadband internet access, cable TV services, data networks, cloud services, and related information services. With over 700,000 fixed connections, 3.4 million wireless connections, and 1.8 million internet access points, APT members provide high-quality communication networks and advanced services to keep customers connected locally, nationally, and globally. The telecommunications industry is a vital segment of Puerto Rico's economy, with APT members making a significant positive impact. Over the past six years, they have invested over $4 billion in physical and technological infrastructure. Our members contribute an average of $543 million annually in state and municipal corporate income taxes, and the industry generates around $3.75 billion per year, accounting for 5.4% of Puerto Rico's Gross National Product (GNP). Employing over 9,000 people with an estimated annual payroll of over $91.3 billion, the industry stimulates the Puerto Rican economy. We believe in the importance of government acting as a facilitator, rather than a competitor, to the private sector. Our members are committed to providing excellent service and investing in Puerto Rico, including supporting the establishment of new businesses and creating job opportunities.
