About
Description
The Ali Forney Center is a brand dedicated to protecting LGBTQ+ young people from the perils of homelessness and empowering them with the necessary tools for independent living. Established in 2002 in memory of Ali Forney, a gender-nonconforming youth who tragically lost their life while living on the streets, our mission is to provide a safe haven for LGBTQ+ individuals in need. Our 24-hour program never closes its doors, offering more than just a bed and food.
We provide a comprehensive range of services, from initial intake at our drop-in center to transitional housing and job readiness training. Our team, including our leadership, staff, and youth counselors, are deeply committed to fostering stability, healing, trust, and education so our young adults can ultimately live independently. As part of our mission, the Ali Forney Center founder, Carl Siciliano, hosts a podcast called A Long Way From Home, dedicated to exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ people facing exile and displacement.
Join us in making a difference by donating, getting involved, or attending our events. Together, we can create a brighter future for LGBTQ+ youth
