## Description

Alkyl Recycling B.V. is a sustainable chemistry company based at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen, Netherlands. It is developing a lower-energy process to recycle used diapers and other absorbent hygiene products, addressing waste that commonly goes to landfill or incineration. The company’s approach uses chemical techniques rather than relying on energy-intensive heat processes, aiming to reduce energy use and toxic emissions while preserving the structure of valuable materials.

Alkyl Recycling’s technology is designed to separate used products into components such as plastic, wood pulp and superabsorbent polymer, which can then be reused as raw materials in new products. Its goal is to make recycling complex hygiene waste scalable and suitable for circular applications. The company plans to provide technology that can integrate with existing waste-management infrastructure and expand recycling capacity. Alkyl says its work is supported by research and development grants and LIOF Early Phase Financing. It invites waste-management companies and other potential partners to connect and follow its progress toward a more sustainable approach to managing absorbent hygiene product waste.
