## Description

Allerton Park Horse Trials is an annual British Eventing competition held in September at Allerton Park, near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. Run by Lady Nell Mowbray and John Johnstone with a committee and a large volunteer team, the event has been part of the British Eventing calendar for more than 25 years. It attracts around 400 riders and over 2,500 visitors each year.

The trials offer Intermediate, Novice and BE100 classes, with competition across dressage, show jumping and cross-country. Riders tackle courses designed by Rob McSkimming across nearly 300 acres of undulating parkland, woodland and lakes, with Allerton Castle providing a scenic backdrop. The event is affiliated to British Eventing and welcomes competitors of varying experience.

Visitors can watch the sport, explore the grounds, enjoy food and refreshments, and browse trade stands. The event also offers sponsorship opportunities and welcomes prospective volunteers, with training provided. Proceeds are reinvested in facilities and competition tracks, with donations made to charities where possible. The venue is accessed via the A168.
