The Alliance for African Assistance is a brand committed to serving refugees, immigrants, and the most vulnerable members of our community. Founded in 1989 in San Diego, California, by refugee Walter Lam, our organization aims to address the many needs of the growing African refugee population. As an inclusive organization, we welcome people of all faiths, or none, to join us as board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and clients.

For over 30 years, we have provided social, cultural, and educational support to refugees and internally displaced persons. Our services include preparing host families, securing safe housing, facilitating health screenings, enrolling children in school, and providing English language classes and translation services. We also offer job assistance and training to help individuals become self-sufficient.

Through partnerships with organizations such as the United Nations High Commission on Refugees and the State of California, we maximize our impact and work towards building a brighter future for all. To date, we have successfully resettled over 20,000 refugees from various countries. Join us in making a difference by donating or getting involved as a volunteer.
