## Description

Progetto Allupo is a conservation and pastoralism initiative led by the Centro Ricerche per la Biodiversità (Ce.R.B.), working with agricultural and pastoral partners at Jazzo Corte Cicero. Its mission is to strengthen the value of pastoral traditions while bringing public authorities, associations, farmers and citizens together to protect native livestock and the biodiversity of the Murgia’s agro-pastoral landscapes.

The project promotes sustainable grazing practices to help maintain Mediterranean meadows, reduce fire risk and prevent biodiversity loss linked to overgrazing or the abandonment of pastoral activity. Its work includes breeding and enhancing native sheep breeds, including Gentile di Puglia and Altamurana, as well as goats and Podolica cattle. It also supports coexistence between livestock breeders and wolves, monitors pastoral ecosystems using bio-indicators, and aims to establish a permanent Biological Station for research, education and conservation.

Alongside its environmental activities, the initiative offers accommodation and products through its associated rural and pastoral businesses.
