## Description

Alma Zois of Achaia is a nonprofit association supporting women affected by breast cancer and promoting prevention and early diagnosis. Founded in Patras in 2001 as the first branch of the Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Alma Zois,” it became an independent association in 2011. Its work combines practical assistance, reliable information and emotional support for women and their families.

The association offers psychosocial support delivered by specialist professionals, as well as organized peer support based on the Reach to Recovery International model. It informs members about breast cancer and patients’ insurance, employment and pension rights, and provides useful items free of charge to women who cannot afford them. Its prevention and early-diagnosis activities include public information events in Achaia and nearby areas. The “Allies in Care” program trains and supports caregivers, while hospital visits and a telephone support line help women connect with the organization. Alma Zois of Achaia also shares personal stories, organizes the Pink the City awareness event, and hosts educational activities, including events on oncology clinical trials.
