## Description

The Miesbach Section of the German Alpine Club (Deutscher Alpenverein, DAV) is a community for mountain sports and outdoor recreation, founded in 1876. One of the DAV’s 25 oldest sections, it has more than 2,000 members and welcomes people of all ages, from families and young climbers to active seniors. Its programme includes hiking, mountaineering on rock and ice, skiing, ski touring and high-alpine ski touring, snowshoeing, mountain biking and sport climbing, with groups and organised outings helping members find like-minded companions.

The section also offers courses and training to support safer participation, drawing on qualified hiking leaders, specialist instructors and coaches. Members can access the Miesbacher Hut and climbing facilities, as well as membership-related services such as insurance information, discounts and a digital membership card. Beyond recreational activities, the organisation supports youth work, nature and climate protection, and maintenance of mountain trails in its areas of responsibility. Founded on a spirit of shared activity and appreciation of the mountains, the section marks its 150th anniversary in 2026 with special events and initiatives.
