## Description

The Somali Network Information Centre (SONIC) serves as the official registry for .SO Internet Domain Names, playing a crucial role in the management of Somalia’s country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD). Established to maintain the database of .so registered names, SONIC was officially re-launched on November 1, 2010, revitalizing digital presence for individuals and organizations globally. Under the oversight of Somalia's National Communications Authority, SONIC ensures compliance with national telecommunications regulations, enhancing the nation’s digital infrastructure.

The organization is dedicated not only to operating and promoting the .so ccTLD but also to advocating for its economic and commercial benefits. By providing accessible and affordable domain registration, SONIC aims to foster growth within the Somali internet community. Their commitment also extends to publishing guidelines, representing .so at international forums, and adhering to global best practices. With a vision to become a reputable registry worldwide, SONIC is instrumental in shaping and securing Somalia’s online identity and infrastructure.
