## Description

The Alabama Society Sons of the American Revolution (ALSSAR) is a state organization dedicated to honoring ancestors who supported the American Revolution and sharing the principles on which the country was founded. Its mission centers on promoting patriotism, serving communities, and educating and inspiring future generations. The society connects members through local chapters, leadership activities, meetings, and opportunities to participate in its Color Guard and other programs.

ALSSAR supports young people and educators through history-focused initiatives, including elementary school poster and middle school brochure contests, the Eagle Scout recognition, Knight Essay and Rumbaugh Orations contests, JROTC/ROTC recognition, a youth video contest, and an American History Teacher Award. The organization also provides membership information and reinstatement assistance, and accepts online dues payments. Its website offers newsletters, event calendars, a speakers bureau, and resources for exploring Revolutionary War history and genealogy, including links to the Patriot Research System and DAR Genealogical Research System. Members and visitors can also access educational videos, historical features, and information about Alabama patriots.
