## Description

Altenhainer Geschichtsverein e.V. is a local history association founded in May 2008 to preserve and bring to life the recent history of Altenhain. Working with material contributed by local residents, the volunteer association collects, digitizes, improves and archives photographs and documents. Its resources include scanners for documents up to A3 size and for entire slide magazines. The archive also covers photo albums, postcards, newspaper clippings, books, historical objects, commemorative publications, cookbooks and the association’s own work, including chronicle material.

The association shares local history through its website, themed and year-based archive sections, historical information boards, village stories and community events. Its Alehaaner Dorfkaffee gatherings combine coffee, homemade cake and conversation with opportunities to revisit shared memories and explore the photo collection. The group welcomes new members and contributors, and invites residents to provide relevant historical material in digital form. Based in Altenhain, the association is dedicated to documenting the community’s past and making its photographs, records and stories accessible to others.
