Alternatives in Action is a brand based in Oakland, CA that focuses on empowering youth from the Bay Area to transform their lives and communities. They offer a range of programs and services through their high school, which is the first ever youth-initiated charter high school in the country. Located in the Seminary neighborhood of East Oakland, Alternatives in Action High School provides a unique learning environment where students take ownership of their education and collaborate with caring adults to drive positive change.

The school's charter has been successfully renewed multiple times since its establishment in 2001, and it is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2014, the high school relocated to East Oakland, and in 2017, they celebrated their 20th anniversary.
