## Description

ALTHEA is a European project focused on making peri-urban areas active participants in the transition to climate neutrality. It uses a Transition Super Living Lab approach, bringing together local authorities, businesses, researchers and communities to test and develop practical solutions across urban and surrounding territories. The project supports Mission Cities in creating cross-sector initiatives aligned with their Climate City Contracts, while helping shape long-term strategies and Local Green Deals that connect cities and peri-urban areas.

ALTHEA coordinates five Transition Super Living Labs and three replicator sites across diverse regions, building a shared learning network to test, scale and replicate climate solutions. Its work includes 59 targeted interventions organised around four themes: sustainable mobility, decarbonised energy systems, zero-pollution industry, and cross-sectoral governance. These initiatives address regional needs through integrated transport, renewable energy and efficiency, cleaner industrial activity, and stronger collaboration among institutions and sectors.

Through this multi-level, collaborative model, ALTHEA aims to help regions develop climate-neutral pathways suited to real-world conditions.
