## Description

The Forum für Altpostgeschichte und Markenfreu(n)de is an online community for people interested in historical postal systems, correspondence, and philately. Its discussion boards bring together collectors and researchers to share knowledge, ask questions, and explore postal history across different periods and regions. Topics include historic stamps and cancellations, postal routes and transit markings, post contracts, mail forms, military and wartime correspondence, and the development of national postal services. Dedicated sections cover German states and territories, international mail, maritime routes, postal history related to major conflicts, and specialist areas such as social philately and fiscal philately. Members can also seek help with deciphering handwriting, translating languages, identifying markings, and researching literature or auction material. The forum provides spaces for introductions, community news, technical support, and discussions about exhibitions, auctions, events, and collecting practices. With extensive topic archives and active member contributions, it serves as a shared resource for documenting, discussing, and understanding the history of mail and stamp collecting.
