## Description

Dr. Amanda Wells is an environmental historian whose work explores Australian landscapes, place-based research, and more-than-human histories. Working across research, higher education, and the cultural sector, she examines how people, environments, and ideas shape one another over time. Her research is grounded in specific places and their histories, with a focus on the River Murray region of South Australia. Her PhD is an environmental and ethnographic history of Cooltong, on the unceded land of the Erawirung people, now part of the Riverland’s horticultural and citrus-growing landscape. Wells’s writing includes work on transnational knowledge and the Riverland, as well as citrus growing and policy challenges in the Murray Valley from 1965 to 1971. Her interests also extend to fields, embodied work, and the relationships between human activity and environmental change. Based on Ngadjuri land, she acknowledges the region’s custodians and the continuing reality that sovereignty has never been ceded. Through research, writing, higher education, engagement, and creative practice, Wells is available to collaborate on new projects.
