## Description

AMAR, the Alberto Bossi Association for Kidney Diseases, is a nonprofit volunteer organization based in Vigevano, Italy. Guided by the principles of mutual support, solidarity and democratic participation, it pursues social benefit by supporting people affected by kidney disease and contributing to local nephrology care.

The association works to promote prevention of kidney failure. Its initiatives include providing the general nephrology clinic with an echocolor Doppler device to examine renal blood vessels and funding an annual scholarship for a nephrology specialist. AMAR also supports improvements to transport for dialysis patients travelling between home and the hospital department, and helps purchase medical equipment and machinery, including for the setup of an operating room.

Alongside its healthcare-related work, AMAR organizes social activities, outings, fundraising events, conferences and public gatherings. The association shares news and event updates through its website and social media, and invites the public to support its work through donations and Italy’s five-per-thousand tax contribution. AMAR is registered in Italy’s National Third Sector Register.
