## Description

Amazon Charitable Trust (ACT) is an Anglo-Brazilian conservation project focused on protecting the Amazon rainforest through collaboration with river-dwelling communities in Brazil. Its approach connects rainforest conservation with community development, aiming to support economically sustainable work in research, health and education. A central initiative is the proposed Science Research and Corporate Environmental Village in the Amazon, described as the world’s first of its kind. ACT’s website outlines the development and its model, and introduces the Xixuaú community, including its location and people, through written information and a virtual tour.

ACT also supports scientific research in the region. The organization reports backing the first large-scale scientific expedition in the RESEX of Baixo Rio Branco Jauaperi. The ABC (Amazon Biodiversity Carbon) expedition brought together 24 multidisciplinary researchers for 15 days in the lower Rio Branco Jauaperi extractive reserve. Through conservation, community-focused development and support for research, ACT links rainforest protection with the wellbeing and knowledge of local communities. Visitors can learn about the project and make donations through the website.
