## Description

The Afro–Middle East Centre (AMEC) is an independent research institute based in South Africa, focused on the Middle East and the changing relationship between Africa and the Middle East. It describes itself as Africa’s leading institute dedicated to these areas of study. AMEC develops and shares research and analysis on regional issues, including North Africa, Palestine, Egypt, Syria and Sudan. Its publications include books, research briefs and analytical articles, with subjects ranging from Palestinian liberation and anti-colonial resistance to political developments and maritime security. The centre also organizes conferences, symposia, seminars, speaking tours and public lectures, and publishes videos and other event-related content. Through its research, publications and public programmes, AMEC aims to build knowledge and encourage informed discussion about Africa, the Middle East and the connections between them. It invites volunteers, including thinkers, writers and researchers, to contribute to its work. AMEC is contactable in Craighall, South Africa, and shares updates through its website and social media channels.
