## Description

The Amiens History Association preserves and shares the history of Amiens and the wider Granite Belt region of southern Queensland. Its work explores the area’s ancient geology, First Nations history, pastoralists and tin miners, the development of the rail line, and the Pikedale Soldiers’ Settlement Scheme. The association also documents the experiences of returned soldiers and soldier settlers, including life in the 1920s, and provides resources to help visitors find information about individual settlers and local history.

Visitors can explore the Amiens Legacy Centre, Memorial Park and grounds. The centre is open to the public, with guided tours available on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and by appointment. The association offers historical information through its website, galleries, recommended reading and research resources, and hosts events and commemorations, including ANZAC Day and Armistice Day activities. It also supports community projects and invites people to participate through membership, donations and other forms of support, helping maintain its heritage work for Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt.
