## Description

The Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações (MTC) is a museum in Porto, Portugal, located in the city’s historic Alfândega building. It explores the history and significance of transport and communications through exhibitions, collections and visitor experiences. Its displays include an interpretive route through the building, the Museum of Customs, Júlio Resende’s Ribeira Negra panel and The Engine of the Republic, an exhibition about the cars used by Portugal’s presidents. The museum also presents temporary, online and touring exhibitions, extending its programmes beyond the galleries.

MTC offers educational activities and a programme for schools and other visitors, alongside services related to collection management. Its library supports research and public engagement, with regular features highlighting books and authors. Visitors can find practical information about opening hours, prices and directions, and shop through the museum’s online store. The museum also organises activities outside its premises and shares news about cultural events and heritage initiatives. Located on Rua Nova da Alfândega, MTC welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays.
