## Description

ANABO, the National Association for Assistance to Children in Hospital, is an Italian association dedicated to promoting high-quality paediatric care that puts children at its centre and humanises the hospital experience. It recognises that children and their families need more than medical treatment: welcome, practical support and sensitive accompaniment can contribute to wellbeing and help make hospital stays less difficult.

ANABO develops projects to improve care and the hospital environment. Its “Volunteer School” initiative aims to prepare volunteers to support paediatric hospitals and address the social and cultural needs of hospitalised children and their families. “Coloriamo la Pediatria” focuses on making selected areas of paediatric wards more welcoming and stimulating, with the goal of easing anxiety for children, parents and healthcare staff.

The association also shares news and information on children’s health and wellbeing, organises events, and recognises work in the humanisation of paediatric care through the Giuseppe Claps ANABO-SIP award.
