## Description

The Institute for Anarchist Studies (IAS), founded in 1996, is dedicated to promoting and advancing anarchist thought and radical literature globally. Operating as a grant-giving organization, the IAS has funded over a hundred projects for writers and translators committed to anarchism and social justice. The institute also publishes a range of materials, including the "Perspectives on Anarchist Theory" journal, the "Anarchist Interventions" book series in collaboration with AK Press, and the "Lexicon" pamphlet series, which seeks to explore diverse themes within anarchist discourse.

Beyond publishing, the IAS organizes educational events and conferences, fostering a collaborative environment for those engaged in the struggle against state and capitalist oppression. The IAS promotes principles of mutual aid, decentralization, and direct democracy while advocating for issues like ecological sustainability and social justice. With an internally democratic structure and a mission to inspire transformative societal change, the Institute for Anarchist Studies remains a vital part of the contemporary global anticapitalist movement.
