## Description

Instead is a company founded in 2023 to bring frontier artificial intelligence to accounting firms. Led by founder and CEO Andrew Argue, a certified public accountant, the company focuses on helping firms adopt AI across tax, accounting, advisory, and other services. Its approach builds on accountants’ expertise and client relationships, aiming to extend the value professionals provide while giving them more time for judgment, strategy, and client work.

Instead is developing intelligence designed to support work across an entire accounting firm, rather than a single service area. A key part of its foundation is electronic filing infrastructure: the company is the first in decades to receive IRS approval to e-file across all five major entity types. Its approvals cover more than 140 U.S. government jurisdictions, including federal, state, and city levels. Through its AI-focused capabilities and broad e-filing coverage, Instead supports accounting firms as they modernize their services and operations while keeping professional expertise central to client outcomes.
