## Description

The Australian and New Guinea Fishes Association (ANGFA) is a dedicated organization fostering a passion for the native freshwater fishes and aquatic habitats of Australia and New Guinea. Founded over three decades ago, ANGFA unites individuals from various backgrounds, from casual enthusiasts to researchers, all eager to learn about and protect their local ecosystems. The association promotes study, conservation, and culture, offering members a platform for information exchange through forums and publications, notably the quarterly journal "Fishes of Sahul."

ANGFA organizes biennial conventions and field trips that provide unique opportunities for networking, conservation efforts, and the exploration of beautiful wilderness areas. Members can participate in hands-on surveys to discover new fish populations, while also engaging in the conservation of endangered species. With regional groups active across Australia and a digital resource library, ANGFA serves as a vital link among aquatic enthusiasts, contributing significantly to the understanding and appreciation of freshwater biodiversity.
