## Description

Anna Malaika Tubbs is an author, sociologist, advocate, educator, consultant, and public speaker whose work brings overlooked stories and histories into focus. Drawing on academic research and personal experience, she makes complex ideas about race, gender, motherhood, and power accessible through engaging storytelling. Her debut book, The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation, celebrates Alberta King, Louise Little, and Berdis Baldwin and their influence on their sons and American history. Her second book, Erased: What American Patriarchy Has Hidden from Us, examines how patriarchy has shaped the nation’s past and present. Tubbs shares her ideas through books, articles, media appearances, a TED Talk, and public talks, and her site invites organizations to book her for speaking engagements. She is also involved in scripted and unscripted screen projects in development. With a Ph.D. in Sociology and graduate training in gender studies, Tubbs connects scholarship with clear, compelling narratives that encourage audiences to reconsider whose contributions are remembered and how social systems affect everyday life.
