## Description

Ante is a crypto self-custody service designed to help people protect their assets from lost keys and plan for recovery or inheritance. Its mobile-first vaults use Safe smart contracts, with users retaining control of their assets and private keys rather than handing custody to Ante. Instead of seed phrases, a user chooses trusted guardians to initiate a handoff and names the recipient address that will receive the assets.

Users check in on a schedule they set. If they miss a check-in, a guardian can start the handoff, but a grace period gives the user time to check in and cancel it. Guardians cannot redirect funds, even if they collude. Ante also offers a Recovery Kit explaining how to move funds using the user’s own key without the Ante app. The service provides a public mainnet vault demonstrating the handoff process, along with online information, documentation, and support. Ante is intended to cover device loss while giving users options to arrange access for others; what its safeguards cover depends on how each vault is configured.
