## Description

The Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum is dedicated to serving the educational needs of the public by interpreting and presenting the story of hard coal mining, its related industries, and the historic immigrant culture of northeastern Pennsylvania. Located in McDade Park in Scranton, this museum sheds light on the experiences of the people who came from Europe to work in the anthracite mining and textiles industries. The museum offers a range of exhibits, including the permanent exhibition Anthracite People, which explores the rich history and heritage of the region. Additionally, there are temporary exhibitions that provide insight into various aspects of the anthracite industry. In addition to the museum, visitors can also explore the nearby Scranton Iron Furnaces, which are remnants of the early iron industry in the United States. The massive stone blast furnaces are a testament to the region's industrial past. With events and programs happening throughout the year, the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnaces offer visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the region's rich history in an engaging and informative way. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about the area's heritage, a visit to the Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum is sure to be a memorable experience.
