## Description

SEARCHER is a research program focused on surveillance for emerging antimicrobial resistance by characterizing the largely unexplored environmental resistome. Its mission is to improve understanding of how antibiotic resistance emerges, persists, and spreads in environmental settings. The program brings together researchers and collaborators working across fields relevant to antimicrobial resistance, with topics spanning environmental monitoring, resistance-gene dissemination, farming practices, wildlife, and microbial evolution.

SEARCHER provides access to research protocols and tools, shares publications, and introduces the people involved in its work. It also supports scientific communication through webinars and an AMR Digest, featuring research and discussion on issues such as monitoring resistance in the environment, antibiotic resistance in fish, livestock-related gene dissemination, and access to antibiotics. The webinar series takes an interdisciplinary approach, connecting perspectives from the natural and medical sciences with insights from the humanities and social sciences. Some events are organized in collaboration with the Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research (CARe) in Gothenburg.
